For Best Results If you have used a version earlier than v1.8...
After saving your preferences for the first time, please re - open and re - choose your Edit Menu/Preferences (then Save again) to be sure they are read and written properly from then on. There is a chance that things may get wiped or zero'ed otherwise, because of older prefs file data , and the lack of the new data in there when first read into memory for the install of v1.9.
This will not be a problem if you haven't run Compositor before.
